SATURDAY 6/20/09

All Hell broke loose today. I got Lorraine up at 8 so she could get dressed so I could leave for my shot at 10. I noticed when she got up she was slurring her words somewhat but she does that sometimes in the night. When I gave her meds I noticed she couldn't hold the cup with both hands but didn't think too much about it. I sat her in her big chair while I went to the Cancer Center. When I got back it was time to go for early dinner. When she started to eat she couldn't hold a fork or spoon in her right hand. I had to feed her so I realized there was a probem. I called the Nurse up after dinner and she llistened to her chest and said she thought she might have pneumonia. Her temp was 101.1. She examined her arm and said you better get her to the hospital immediately. I took her at 1. They did MRI, Cat Skan and chest xray and the doc came in and said she did in fact have pneumonia and a stroke. She can't use her left hand at all. She is in room 533 South at Methodist Hospital. What I am so disappointed about is she has beeen taking Plavix since the last TIA. The MS Doc took her off of it for some unknown reason. Now I realize she is not an internist and I should have checked with Shiffermiller before she stopped the Plavix. Live and learn I guess but I hope she comes out all right or I will never forgive myself.
